Sheila’s 12 month Periodization Case Study

Sheila’s Journey has been incredible to watch! She is the hardest worker, sticks to the plan and is reaping the benefits!

In June 2024, Sheila enrolled in a 16-Week Muscle Building Cohort.

The process was all new to her but she was committed to learning all she could. She spent nearly 6 months going through a slow build, not only increasing her calories but drastically improving her food quality as well.

We also navigated issues with sleep, hormones and ultimately have seen improvements across many health markers.


The Periodization Plan:

Joined June Muscle Building Cohort

July 2024 - December 2024 (22-weeks): Muscle Build

  • Gained 5.7 lbs

  • Increased calories from 2000 to 2400

1:1 Coaching in September ‘24 with Coach Carli

Jan 2025 - May 2025 (16-weeks): Fat Loss

  • Lost 10 lbs

  • Took calories down to 1750


What’s next for Sheila?

Sheila is heading back to maintenance! She has created a periodization plan to take her through another year of building muscle, and losing fat.

May - July: Maintenance

  • Sheila is going to enjoy some travel, as well as practicing her maintenance skills.

August - December: Muscle Building

  • Sheila has a 4-month muscle building phase on the calendar to continue stacking bricks towards her goal of being the most jacked she can be.

January - March 2026: Fat Loss

  • Sheila will crush another fat loss phase at the beginning of the new year!


Sheila’s Key Takeaways of the Process:

When I first found EPN, I had been going about weight loss like many other women do - “cut down food, eat nothing but salad, do a ton of cardio, hit the gym with a mediocre workout, and hopefully become super thin in 90 days”.

I had tested all the fad diet tactics. Shakes, Keto, Intermittent fasting, low carb. I tried all the workouts, CrossFit, Cardio, Gym 7 days a week. Every time I’d have a little bit of success and then fall off and go right back to old habits.

EPN challenged me in order to become the version of myself that I’d hoped to be, I’d first need to unlearn everything I thought knew about fat loss and start building the foundational habits that would truly make a meaningful change in my life.

I’ll admit, at first I was frustrated AF. Why couldn’t they just give me a meal plan and leave me to it like a nutrition coach is supposed to do?

But having that support system, having that education, having someone in my corner to share with me exactly what was going to happen at each stage in my journey from muscle build, to maintenance, to fat loss, has been life changing.
