Cathy’s Maintenance Success Case Study
From Cathy:
“I joined EPN in August 2023 because my weight was increasing while my activity level was practically zero (as was my food intake – I just didn’t know it yet), and I needed some help. Last year, I was miserable in my body. I felt hobbled - why was I so damn weak? What’s wrong with me?
I cannot tell you how happy I am to have joined the 17-week Maintenance and Muscle Gain cohort. I have learned so much . . . my body can maintain the same weight on 2100 calories as it did on 1100 calories – still kind of blows my mind.”
In her first 14 weeks Cathy...
- Increased calories from 1100 - 2100 daily
- Lost 3" across her circumference measurements
Non-Scale Wins:
- She has moved to the Muscle Gaining phase and is working on adding on some lbs.
- No longer afraid food will make her gain fat
- Started prioritizing protein – she increased from 80g to 135g. This has helped her build some actual strength in the gym
- Her gut is happy after years of searching for answers to why it shut itself down FOOD – she needed food.
- She rides her bike and hikes the trails, feeling strong and confident (and well-fed).
Cathy’s 2024 Plan:
After newfound energy from being able to eat and maintain more calories, Cathy developed the below plan to crush her goals of getting back into bike racing:
- December 2023 - March 2024: Surplus to build muscle!
- March 2024 - October 2024: Performance Maintenance to prep and compete in multiple races in the fall
- November 2024 Onwards: Maintenance, Cathy realized after years of under-eating that she never wants to deficit again, and instead will continue to focus on muscle building and performance goals
