How to hide the calories and track just protein

An easier way to ease into tracking

Calorie totals give you the heebie-jeebies?

When you’re just getting started tracking or have had a prior not-so-great relationship with “calorie counting,” getting back into it can seem daunting.

However, there are quite a few reasons why you still may want to keep track of your food without seeing the calorie totals, such as:

  1. Being able to keep track of certain micronutrients for health purposes

  2. Ensuring overall protein intake is in a good place

  3. Allow you to ease back into an environment of being aware of calorie intake.

So what does it look like?

How Do I set it up?

Navigate to:

  • Display >

  • For Summary Column select ‘Protein’

  • Toggle off Show Energy Summary

  • Toggle off Show Macronutrient Breakdown

Update Diary Group settings

Navigate to:

  • Display >

  • Diary Settings >

  • Show Group Subtotals set as: Same as Summary Column in Diary

Update Summary

Navigate to:

  • Targets >

  • Nutrient Targets >

  • Lipids & Carbohydrates >

  • Toggle OFF the visibility of energy

Just like energy, navigate to:

  • Targets >

  • Nutrient Targets >

  • Lipids & Carbohydrates >

  • Toggle OFF the visibility of fat and carbs

Update Protein goal

Navigate to:

  • Targets >

  • Macro Targets >

    • Toggle to “Set macros using” fixed

    • Input your protein goal or set to “0"

In COnclusion

If you’re trying to ease back into tracking, this could be a great option as you gather baseline data without trying to back into a perfect calorie number.

If needed, you can always drill into macro totals via the daily summary report later!
