How to set up happy scale for a Muscle build

How to dial in the app to help you analyze your build phase

step 1: set it color neutral

We love Happy Scale, but red = bad and green = good can mess with your head when you’re trying to go into a build and intentionally “be in the red”.

Open your HappyScale app:

Select Settings ➡️

Select Appearance ➡️

  • Set color theme for losing weight to “Blue”

  • Set color theme for gaining weight to “Blue”

Step 2: update your settings

Open your HappyScale app:

Select Settings ➡️

Select Weight Goals ➡️

  • Set objective to “Gain weight”

  • Set “Starting Point” to the date you started your build

  • Toggle ON hide entries before start date (this has HappyScale hide your weight data prior to your build so you start with a clean slate)

update your settings Pt 2

Open your HappyScale app:

Select Settings ➡️

Select Weight Goals ➡️

Select My Goal Weight ➡️

Input my goal weight as the topline weight number you’re willing to gain in the build.

  • Select “Stay Around”

  • In the goal weight range, put “2.0 lbs.”

update your settings Pt 3

Open your HappyScale app:

Select Settings ➡️

Select Weight Goals ➡️

Select My Goal Weight ➡️

Input in the I commit to gain field the midpoint of your target rate of gain.

  • For example: most of our intermediate trainee females are targeting around a 0.2 - 0.4 lb/week rate of gain, so you would then select 0.30lbs/week

  • Feel free to split your goal into as many segments as you’d like!

takeaways

  • If you’re just “looking” at day-to-day weigh-ins without a lens to look at the data through, it’s easy to make incorrect assumptions based on the “visual” scale fluctuations.

  • In our cohorts and 1:1 coaching, we have built-in trends modeling into client check-in forms so our clients can smooth the noise out of the fluctuations.

  • Additionally, our clients download these apps to take the data into their own hands, giving them peace of mind with the day-to-day scale data.

  • Having an app that helps with data visualization is key to mindset success, no matter your periodization phase.
